CAEECC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training

Background

The CAEECC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Training Plan came out of several needs to bring about an inclusive and welcoming environment to support diverse perspectives in CAEECC’s activities. Directives driving this effort include the California Public Utilities Commission Environmental Social Justice Action Plan, the Composition, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Final Report, and requests from Commissioner Shiroma.

Purpose

This DEI Training Plan is not meant to be a checklist of items to accomplish diversity. The Facilitation Team recognizes that often, DEI training is meant to focus on white-centric organizations and how to orient their Human Resources processes to be inclusive. Instead, this Training Plan is intended as a deep dive into the current practices and behaviors/attitudes of CAEECC and its membership and the extent to which they may support or hinder greater diversity, inclusion, and therefore, equitable outcomes in its work. By acknowledging the current and historic systems within and that influence CAEECC, CAEECC can provide the foundation for new approaches, and thus pursue true diversity and equity through its work. To learn more about DEI, view the DEI Resources section at the bottom of this page.
